TEN houses and eight flats could be built off Shrivenham Road in Swindon, in spite of objections from neighbours.
Residents are worried that the development, behind 38-48 Shrivenham Road, would be out of character for the area and would lead to a loss of privacy, more noise and more traffic problems.
Swindon Council's planning officers have recommended the development be approved.
The planning committee will discuss it at 7pm on Tuesday, November 2, at the Civic Offices, Swindon.
