CHIPPENHAM NEWS: YOUNGSTERS were given help in finding fun events to fill their spare time at a mini street festival on Wednesday night.

Over 60 children aged between 11 and 16 enjoyed workshops at Chippenham Library which encouraged them to join youth clubs and dance workshops.

Among the fun activities the youngsters were made aware of were The Olympiad, The Bridge Centre youth club and the Wiltshire Youth Dance Company.

Organisers hope the mini street festival will help children find events to fill their spare time.

Children's librarian Lucy Kitchener said: "We wanted to let the children know what is going on their area.

"Lots of businesses turned up to show them what they can do.

"A rowing machine supplied by the Olympiad was very popular as was the badge making.

"Hopefully they went away realising how much is out there in Chippenham for children to get involved with."
