WILTSHIRE open their bid for glory in the inter-county championship today.

They face Warwickshire in the Liberty Trophy with three rinks being played at both North Wilts (Chippenham) and at Avon Valley (Lighthorne Heath).

Westlecot supply the bulk of the 24 man Wiltshire side with 14 players, 11 of whom will playing away at Avon Valley.

North Wilts have five representatives, Christie Miller (Melksham) three, while both Thamesdown and Five Rivers (Salisbury) have a lone representative.

In recent years Liberty Trophy games have been played at one venue, but this year the format switches to three home and three away rinks.

Home (at North Wilts) Rink 1: Kevin Embling and John Williamson (Westlecot), Mick Crook (Five Rivers) and Dave Snell (Westlecot).

Rink 2: Jason Shirley, Paul Macdonald, Nick Grenfell and Steve Remington (all North Wilts).

Rink 3: Malcolm Webb and Luke Meehan (Christie Miller), Keith Hutchens (N Wilts) and Andy Moore (Christie Miller).

Away (at Avon Valley, all players from Westlecot unless stated) Rink 1: Barry Sictorness, Dave Royle (Thamesdown), Gary Morphet and Ian Jefferies.

Rink 2: John Thomas, Jamie Titcombe, Mel Biggs and Neil Hope.

Rink 3: Mike Hall, David Vowles, Hedley Bowen and Neil Smith.

THE WESSEX League campaign begins tomorrow.

Swindon clubs Westlecot and Thamesdown will play in the East Region along with Fairford, Carterton, both Oxford clubs, Rivermead (Reading) and West Berks (Newbury). North Wilts and Christie Miller compete in the Central Region.

In the opening fixtures Thamesdown face Fairford, Westlecot play Oxford & District, North Wilts meet Bristol and Christie Miller clash with Thornbury.
