73148-122AS soon as Sue Mowat heard a competition on the radio to win the chance to broadcast live from the Maldives to Tony Blackburn she was convinced she would win it

Now she is off to a paradise island after beating 1,200 other listeners who applied to Classic Gold Digital.

Sue, 42, of Old Town was painting her bathroom when she heard about the contest.

The advertising copywriter who runs Visible Inc in Old Town with two partners has never been on the radio but she convinced listeners on a live audition that she was the one for the job.

Sue said: "I don't know why I just knew I would win it.

"I had to submit a travel report about the Maldives on a tape and had just 30 seconds to tell them they should send Super Sue.

"I am really thrilled to have won and am especially chuffed because the listeners voted for me.

"I know I shall be broadcasting live from the Maldives every day for a week, but don't know exactly what is in store for me.

"I hope I will be able to go scuba diving and night fishing.

"Whatever happens this will be a fun way to see a beautiful place.

"I hope I can bring a bit of sunshine to people's lives in Swindon."

While Sue is sipping her cocktails on the beach and bringing travel reports in her own breezy style, she will have to spare some time off to practise her lines for a sketch show in Swindon.

She is a member of the Old Town Theatre Company and needs to get ready for their Christmas show at the Arts Centre on stage from December 8-11.

Sue headed off for her week in paradise yesterday hitting both the beach and the airwaves in style with business class flights and accommodation at a top resort.

Classic Gold's newest recruit will share her tropical paradise experience by broadcasting live reports to celebrity and DJ Tony Blackburn and co-host Laura Pittson on the Tastier Breakfast Show; as well as to Graham Rogers' Mid Morning Show and Amanda Bowman's Lunchtime show.

She will also announce details of a further competition where another listener will get a chance to win a holiday for two on the paradise isles.
