STRIKER Dean Evans is delighted to be linking back up with Steve White after being shown the door by Championship outfit Plymouth Argyle.

The 17-year-old has been told to find another club by youth team manager Stewart Gibson after completing two years of his YTS.

Bluebirds boss White coached the teenager when he was at Southampton's Academy, and agreed to take him on work experience for the run-in.

Evans, who lives in Radstock, said: "I have to move on and am now searching for a new club. It was disappointing leaving Plymouth but that's football.

"I took the news well because I thought it was coming and was not expecting to be offered another year."

Evans, who watched the Halesowen clash from the Hardenhuish stands, has already trained with his new teammates and said he is looking forward to the next session.

He added: "It is a good club and there is a great team spirit here.

"I would like to play here next season if I do well."

But the striker is also looking at other clubs and remains hopeful of fulfilling his ambitions of playing in the Football League.

"I still have a few clubs to look at and I am trying to get a trial with Rushden and Diamonds."

Evans played for the youth teams at the Southampton Academy from the age of ten, where he was coached by White, and is happy to be working with the Chippenham boss again.

"I know Chalkie from Southampton so when I found out that I would be released I gave him a call.

"He is a good coach and it will be great to play for him again."
