THE colour and movement of the Marlborough International Jazz festival will be captured by a team of leading artists this year.

One of the festival sponsors, the Marlborough-based stockbrokers Brewin Dolphin, has secured a prestigious New Partners Award from the Arts and Business fund for its sponsorship of the festival.

The £7,000 grant is intended to enhance the value and impact of Brewin Dolphin's sponsorship. This will be done in two ways, said festival director Nick Fogg. Five artists are being commissioned to record the jazz weekend in their own styles.

Three are of national repute: Danny Clark from TV's Watercolour Challenge; Edinburgh arts impresario Richard Demarco and the Daily mail cartoonist Brian Reading.

The other two artists will be wildlife painter Bryan Hanlan, and James Aldridge, who will bring the dimension of his work with people with learning difficulties.

Mr Fogg said: "Each year our festival grows and grows in size, prestige and quality. In 2005 we are thrilled to have a major new overall sponsor in Brewin Dolphin and the fact that the firm has won a New Partners Award is a huge boost for all concerned."
