more people are using the household recycling centre in Purton.
Glass bottles and jars, paper, card, wood, plastic, clothes and electrical items have been dropped off. Jake Quinn, supervisor, said the site is receiving up to 150 computer monitors and televisions each week along with old furniture, bikes, toys, clothes and even garden gnomes.
"A spring sort out makes us all feel good and it feels even better if you know that a lot of the stuff you chuck will be recycled or reused," he said.
Annya Ladakh, who runs the Clear Space Consultancy, said "De-cluttering has a lot of positive practical implications," she said. "People start to feel more in control of their house and their lives."
Hills Recycling operate recycling centres for Wiltshire County Council.
They are open seven days a week, recycling 70 per cent of rubbish they receive.
