PEOPLE are quick to criticise our health system but I am the owner of a home for people with learning disabilities and, over the past three weeks, have had two of my service users in Great Western Hospital.

People often ignore this type of person due to their disability but the staff of Neptune Ward and AAU show compassion.

Unfortunately, one of my service users died on April 15 on Woodpecker ward. The ward was staffed by agency nurses but they made our last few hours with her a very special time.

As well as the staff on Woodpecker I would like to thank the following staff on AAU and Neptune. On AAU: Dr McGinlay for her honesty, C/N Leighton Day for his openness and compassion, Neil and the auxiliary who was on nights for his exceptional care.

For the staff on Neptune who cared for our other service user thank you very much for putting up with her singing. In particular I would like to thank Andrea Plumb and Gemma Gibbs. There were several other people involved whom I do not know by name, but a big thank you to you all.
