Edward Miller with Melinda Messenger, left, and Tony Blair Picture Ref: 77132-290A PIZZA company grabbed a slice of the election action by serving Tony Blair up on a plate.

Domino's Pizza made the political art using an assortment of vegetable and meat toppings.

And the face of Swindon celebrity Melinda Messenger was also crafted into a tasty treat. Edward Miller, a driver and chef for the Old Town High Street takeaway made the masterpieces. "It was a bit difficult but they look okay," he said.

"I'm pleased with how Tony Blair turned out."

The prime minister's hair was of olives, his teeth sweetcorn and potato wedges were used for his nose and eyebrows. Pepperoni and peppers were used to form Mr Blair's distinctive ears.

To make Melinda, the chef picked sweetcorn and pineapple for her long blond locks, a mushroom for her nose and olives for her eyes.

Domino's area manager Lee Kitch was impressed but didn't expect the designs to reach the menu. "It would take far too long," he said. "But they don't look too bad and it's all good fun." The Adver originally approached PizzaExpress who commissioned an artist to produce famous faces for its 40th birthday, asking them to do a similar job for us. But the firm did not want to let their chefs in Swindon have a go.
