MALMESBURY skipper Ed Shellard is getting tough in a bid to achieve the ambitious targets he has set for his Glos/Wilts Two outfit this season.

After a campaign that saw them just avoid relegation last term, he has set his team a series of targets.

Shellard, whose side host promoted Rockhampton in the opener on May 7, said: ''I have installed a system of targets and selection is result-driven.

"The team must achieve certain checkpoints at certain stages, and individuals must produce results to keep their position. ''

Shellard has already been an instrumental figure in a flourishing youth policy at the club.

He insisted: ''The goal is promotion in two of the next four years. By this time the under 15 to under 17 players will be pushing for the first team.''

He added: ''The under 13s have nine players who have been to district, regional or county trials and they can be the nucleus of a Premier League side in six to eight years.''

For the seniors, seamer Richard Mosdell, Shellard's off-spin and Richard Gaunt's chinamen deliveries spearhead the attack, with Dan Horton's pace and the all-rounders Phil Cook and Gideon Poultney.

Batting-wise, Jeremy Newman, Phil Cavey, Gaunt, James Pearce-Smith, James Tweedale and Glyn Rees-Jones can all chase runs.
