A STRONG Biddestone performance left boss Gary Skidmore departing Cornwall wondering how his side had not picked up their first away win of the season.

Skidmore said his players had performed so well in the second half he thought they would win, despite being two goals down with 25 minutes remaining.

"We have to be pleased with 2-2 after being two goals down but if we had not given them room then we would have won," said Skidmore.

"It just goes down as another game that with a bit more patience and luck up front we would have come away with three points. But it is annoying when that happens time and time again."

Playing against the slope and the wind in the first half, Biddestone coped admirably with the long ball and aerial threat of Saltash before an own goal on 30 minutes. In the second half Biddestone started to impose themselves but against the run of play Saltash made it two.

A tactical decision then saw Ollie McAnich and James Tindall swap positions and McAnich revelled in leading the line.

Just after Joe O'Chuko scooped the ball over the bar from six yards McAnich hit the ball home after a cross from the right hand side had bounced kindly for him.

O'Chuko then made amends for his earlier miss with a goal in the last minute.

Skidmore said he is confident of picking up all three points at home to Clevedon United on Saturday.
