SCREWFIX PREMIER: REFRESHED Devizes Town head into the Bank Holiday weekend double header desperate for points after a break last weekend.

Manager Mark Godley said his side are under no illusions as to what is required to guarantee their safety in the Premier Division as they prepare for back-to-back matches with Torrington and Bridport.

He said with rival teams winning on the weekend his team have been dragged back into the relegation battle, and Saturday's game at Torrington would be the biggest of the season for his side.

"The entire season rests on it," said the Devizes chief. "On Monday we have a game against Bridport (3pm at home) so it is an important weekend and we have to get something out of the two games.

"They will be difficult fixtures as the other sides are in the same position as us, scrapping for points.

"In my view any points we pick up will be enough to be safe so it is important."

Devizes are set to be without the suspended Nick Mooney for both games and Dave Kilmurray for the Torrington clash, but hope to welcome back defender Brian Kayll.

Godley said the side would be taking the games one at a time but expected Bridport to be tough opposition.

"They are a big, strong, physical side and they play direct football with two big lads up front.

"If we can get the ball down we can out-play them. We should stay up, but if we go into the games thinking we are safe we will get a rude awakening.

"I think if we play to the potential that, at times, we have shown then we should be fine.

"We have taken points off all the top six sides except Bideford and so I know we are capable, but my players have to realise they have to compete both mentally and physically.

"They have to have the desire and hunger to stay in this league."
