POLICE are warning pensioners in north and west Wiltshire to watch out for a distraction burglar using an eight-year-old boy.

A woman and boy struck at two homes in Luggershall and Marlborough on Monday evening, and police fear they could be heading to other parts of the county.

In Luggershall the pair were refused entry into a house after telling the occupants they were selling flowers.

In the Marlborough incident the woman tricked their way into the home of a 90-year-old man and searched his house before leaving empty-handed.

Police spokesman Steve Coxhead said: "We cannot rule out the fact they may be operating in a different area which could include north and west Wiltshire and we want people to be aware.

"If people are approached or become aware of this woman and boy then please let the local police know."

The woman is described as 20 to 25-years-old, with short blonde hair possibly in a ponytail. She was medium to heavy build and about 5ft 4ins.

One of the victims said she was wearing a yellow t-shirt, denim jacket and jeans.

The boy is described as between eight and ten, with closely cropped ginger/blond hair. He was wearing a black anorak.
