REIGNING champions Chippenham made a winning start in the under 15s division of the Wiltshire Youth Cricket League as they beat visitors Wootton Bassett by 10 wickets.

Batting first, Bassett were undone by the bowling of Marcus Brown

(3-5 in five overs) and Liam Dawson (3-3 in three overs). Two run outs did not help their cause as they were dismissed in just 14 overs for 26. Dawson and James Vince then took Chippenham to a 10-wicket victory in just five overs.

An outstanding spell of bowling from James Moore took Devizes to a 47-run victory at home to Westbury.

Batting first, Devizes were bowled out for 149, with the major contributions coming from Ed Luke (39) and Alex Cox (26). Jack Gentle (4-29) and Medhi Ibrahim (3-42) were the pick of the Westbury bowlers.

Tom White (19) and Sam Greener (20) helped Westbury get off to a reasonable start but then Moore ripped through the batting as he took six for 16 in just six overs. Ed Luke also bowled tidily (2-16 in 8 overs) as Westbury were dismissed for 102.

Newcomers South Wilts also got off to a winning start with a 198-run victory at home to Purton.

Tom Pearce (54) and James Glover (29) provided an excellent start to the South Wilts innings and useful contributions from Dan Sycklemore (20), Jamie Crarer (26) and Tom Boatwright (16 not out) took South Wilts to an imposing 226-8 in their 45 overs. Ian Hazell

(2-25) was the leading Purton bowler. In reply, Purton were out for just 28.
