NEXT week is Red Cross Week and this year's theme is to thank all those who have given generously to the charity.
The Red Cross collection for the Tsunami Appeal in Wiltshire raised £130,000, of which £20,000 was collected in the first few days after the Boxing Day disaster.
In Trowbridge, volunteers collected £7,000 in one morning from shoppers at the Shires precinct and ASDA supermarket.
Fundraiser Mary Harring-ton said: "The response in Trowbridge was amazing. We had children giving their pocket money and Christmas money. People were so good.
"I am really proud of the people of Wiltshire and of the volunteers who gave up their time to collect."
The charity still needs funds to carry on its everyday work and volunteers will be raising money through events and door-to-door collections next week.
The Red Cross supports people in Wiltshire by providing first aid training, therapeutic care for those in hospitals, care homes and prisons, skin camouflage and short-term loans of equipment.
The week will culminate in an open garden event at Brook House, Bromham. Donations can be sent to The Red Cross, Gains Lane, Devizes, SN10 1QU.
