TROWBRIDGE Town finished their season on a high on Wednesday night but will have to wait to see whether they have done enough to claim the Division One title.

A brace from Matt Cooper and a goal from Daniel Barnes moved the Bees two points clear at the top of the table but closest rivals Shrivenham still have one game to play.

They travel to bottom of the table side Adderbury Park tomorrow knowing anything less than a win would hand Trowbridge the title and manager Neil Kirkpatrick insists he still has hope.

He said: "We can do more now. A few weeks ago it looked as though we had no hope but now we have taken it to the very last game of the season.

"I had a phone call from the Adderbury Park manager and he promised me they would do their best to beat Shrivenham because they wanted us to win the league.

"We have a good rapport with them and I have no doubt they will give it everything. Obviously we want the championship but whatever happens now I can only praise my players."

While a few have tried to undermine Trowbridge Town's achievements this season after last season's promotion from the Wiltshire League, Kirkpatrick insists the Hellenic League deserves more credit.

He said: "People criticise the Hellenic League but since Christmas it has been a really competitive league.

"Didcot reached the final stages of the FA Vase and a Hellenic side beat a Western League side.

"It has been a big step up for us and we have done really well. Everybody who has been involved this season has done the club proud and I believe we are gelling and maturing together all the time."

A handful of Trowbridge supporters are expected to make the trip to Adderbury Park tomorrow to cheer the league strugglers on to a surprise win.

Kirkpatrick said: "I don't expect I will make the trip up myself but hopefully the presence of a few Trowbridge fans will help Adderbury.

"The fans have been incredible this season and their efforts are fully appreciated by everyone at the club

"Fair play to Shrivenham if they win it because they were probably the best team we have played this season. But you never know what is going is happen."
