LEE Burns has urged his young guns to stay focused for their last two games of the season after watching them edge closer to Screwfix Premier Division safety on Tuesday.

Ahead of tomorrow's trip to Bridport and Monday's trip to Torrington, Melksham are six points clear of the relegation zone and just three points away from guaranteeing survival.

Even if Melksham were to lose their remaining matches, the five teams below them would have to string a series of wins together to condemn Melksham to the drop.

But the Melksham manager is refusing to get carried away by a run of form that has seen them lose just one match in five and is still looking over his shoulder.

He said: "I was really hoping to get the three points at Brislington on Tuesday but the weather ruined the game.

"At any other time of the season it would never have gone ahead because of the surface water but credit to the ref, he got the 90 minutes out of the way."

Melksham started well and deservedly took the lead on 18 minutes when Simeon Allison converted Liam Byfield's cross at the far post.

Melksham were left feeling hard done by on the stroke of half time when goalkeeper Tom Drewitt appeared to be pushed but play was waved on as Brislington equalised.

In a non-event of a second half due to an almost impossible playing surface the visitors restored their lead with 10 minutes remaining when Burns flicked on for Kris Beasley to fire home.

But Brislington went straight up the other end to equalise as the game finished even.
