A PRIVATE collector who outbid a group of Swindon supporters for Town memorabilia has agreed to donate it all to the County Ground.

As revealed in yesterday's Adver the fans, led by Chris Scott, managed to rescue six of the 14 lots of Harold Fleming's history up for auction in Chester.

Fleming was one of the club's greatest ever footballers.

But with many of the items going for more than double their guide price it looked like the rest would be leaving Swindon for good. Now the Adver has tracked down the man who bought the other medals.

And Welsh businessman Neville Evans, 41, who spent more than £5,000 on the goods says he would be delighted to loan them to the museum for Swindon's footballing history that Mr Scott is trying to set up.

He said: "It's their spiritual home isn't it? I would be more than happy to see them back there."

Mr Evans, president of Aberystwyth's football club, has a huge collection of football memorabilia including the ball used in the first World Cup final between Uruguay and Argentina in 1934 and 1,200 international caps.

Mr Scott, 72, of Haydon View Road, said: "It's excellent news. It's smashing that it will all be in one place.

"This is an excellent platform for the museum and I'd like to thank the Adver.

"This will really be something for the people of Swindon to be proud about."
