I HAVE just read about the unfortunate accident at the junction of Groundwell Road and Drove Road.
As both a regular pedestrian and car user at this junction I'm afraid that it was only a matter of time before a serious accident occurred here.
Crossing from the middle island towards Cumberland Road, the traffic is stopped from turning into Groundwell Road via the red light.
However, at the same time, traffic travels straight on up Drove Road. Pedestrians here often cannot see oncoming traffic past the stationary queue, and motor vehicles cannot see pedestrians for the same reason, while often hurtling through this junction at more than 30 mph. In the light of this recent accident perhaps it is time for the authorities to review the safety of this junction.
