ONE of the many things one enjoyed in the course of visiting in-laws and friends in Sweden was watching the world news on television.
It was so refreshing to be spared the intrusion of translators and to hear celebrities from different countries speak for themselves.
Apart from making viewing cum listening more pleasurable, a similar arrangement in this country might spark off an interest in other tongues, in addition to providing an admirable aid to language students. Given time, the Brits might be on their way to catching up with the Scandinavians. On second thoughts, that might be a tall order.
