Fire officers were called to London Road in Devizes yesterday lunchtime after a tipper truck turned over.

The incident took place at around 1.15pm when the tipper, carrying gravel, went onto its side on the roundabout opposite the Total filling station, spilling gravel and oil onto the road.

Pip Flowers, station commander at Devizes, said: "The driver wasn't hurt, just a bit embarrassed. I think he had just overdone it at the roundabout and turned the vehicle on its side."

There was some traffic build-up while emergency services attended the incident, but it was all over and done with by just after 2pm.
