Delighted staff and parents of children at Cheverell Old School Nursery are celebrating an outstanding Ofsted report.
The nursery in Great Cheverell achieved an outstanding grade in all 17 categories measured.
Rhona Welham, the headteacher and manager of the nursery, which she established 19 years ago, said: “To have 17 areas judged outstanding is pretty special. We have always made continuous improvements.
“Our parents are so supportive. Some burst into tears when they read the Ofsted report. They were so emotional about it.”
The unannounced Ofsted inspection happened on January 28.
The report says the outdoor area is particularly well resourced.
The nursery has an eco micro garden where the children learn about insects and buglife and grow flowers and vegetables.
There is also a pet centre where the children look after five rabbits and three guinea pigs.
There are 51 children at the nursery, aged from two to five, and four teaching staff and one administrator.
The Ofsted report says the youngsters are confident and eager learners.
“They are very independent and staff consistently encourage them to try things for themselves.
“Children are great communicators. They are eager to speak up in group situations and chat happily to staff and their peers.
“Staff provide excellent support for children’s learning,” the report says.
