Mother-of-two Claire Eacott is to do a sponsored swim to raise money for the Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
Mrs Eacott, of Waiblingen Way, Devizes, will swim a mile in the pool at Devizes Leisure Centre later this month.
Mrs Eacott, 35, a care worker, was airlifted to Salisbury District Hospital by the Wiltshire Air Ambulance in 1997. She was a passenger in a car which was involved in a collision with a lorry near Stonehenge.
Mrs Eacott was discharged from hospital the same day but suffered a head injury and bulging disc in her back.
She said: “The injuries caused me health problems for 11 years. It was swimming that got my strength back. I am swimming a mile because that is the distance my accident was from my home at the time.”
