A scheme to provide transport for young people and at the same time earn income for community groups has been launched by the Devizes-based Community First.
The charity has found funding for the Wiltshire All Vehicle Sharing Scheme, or WAVeSS, to develop income opportunities for groups that own minibuses by putting them in touch with other groups that need transport.
Liam Tatton-Bennett, the WAVeSS co-ordinator, said: “The scheme is primarily aimed at sixth forms and colleges needing to transport students to courses held off site.
“However, the scheme could equally be used by a local community seeking to provide group transport for young people in the evenings or a community group looking to organise a day out.”
Mr Tatton-Bennett said that Devizes School has expressed an interest in lending its minibuses.
