It was a real thriller for children in West Lavington as they danced across the stage at the village hall performing six of the most famous songs and dances by the pop icon, Michael Jackson.

Workshops ran for three days last week, in the October half-term break, and 48 children attended to create and rehearse a performance inspired by Michael Jackson.

Co-ordinator of the workshop, Lucy Wain, 37, of Devizes, who also teaches music classes for under-fours, said: “It was fantastic to see how many children took part.

“Everyone was up on the stage at some point joining in – even the boys.

“There were 19 boys this year, which is more than we’ve had before. It was great to see the enthusiasm from the children.”

This was Mrs Wain’s fifth music workshop.

In the past she has ran workshops on musicals including Oliver!, Mamma Mia and Bugsy Malone.

Mrs Wain was helped in running the workshop by her daughter Ruby Wain, who is a dance student at St Augustine’s Catholic College, Trowbridge, who choreographed the routines.

She was also helped by Joe Scarf, a music student at Dartington College on the piano, and Devizes School student Joe Higgins on the drums.
