People living near a potential new housing development in Silver Street, Calne, are being given the chance to air their views at a consultation session next Tuesday, July 7.

Developers C G Fry and Son will be holding an informal meeting, where they will showcase their plans to build new homes on land in Silver Street, and all interested residents are invited to air their views between 2pm and 8pm at the Lansdowne Strand Hotel.

The site is located to the north west of John Bentley School and south west of White Horse Way. It measures around seven hectares and is currently used for agricultural purposes.

A spokesman for C G Fry and Son said: “The site is one of six in Calne recently identified in the former North Wiltshire District Council’s ‘strategic housing land availability assessment’ as ‘priority one’, meaning that it is deemed suitable for the delivery of new housing within a five year timeframe.

“Not all of the site will be developed, as significant areas of new public open space are also proposed in addition to new housing.”

Representatives from the developer and their planning consultants will be on hand to explain the proposals throughout the afternoon.
