Tributes have started to flood in for a Devizes teenager who died during the early hours of yesterday morning.

Police have asked the Gazette not to fully identify the Devizes schoolboy as not all family and friends have yet been told of his death.

But friends of James, 16, who died after falling on his neck as he climbed a fence in Broadleas Road, Devizes at about 4am yesterday have been leaving tributes.

James, who was a Year 11 pupil at Devizes School, was an avid Liverpool supporter and keen football player.

Friends have left heartfelt messages on his Bebo page.

He is described as a kind and caring friend by his mates who are struggling to come to terms with his death.

Flowers have been left in Broadleas Road close to where he died.

Yesterday police closed the road and conducted house to house inquiries. The road re-opened at about 5pm yesterday.

Detectives from Melksham CID are investigating. A spokesman said yesterday: "We can confirm a 16-year-old boy has died but we are still investigating exactly what happened."
