A 16-year-old Devizes boy died in the early hours of today in Broadleas Road, Devizes.

It is understood the boy was trying to climb a fence when he fell and hit his neck. After he fell and was unconscious his friends tried to give him CPR. It is understood the boy and friends had been camping nearby.

Police have sealed off a section of the road and are conducting house to house inquiries.

It is understood he died after running down the road. It is not clear if a car was involved.

It is thought the victim is a Year 11 pupil at Devizes School.

DC Nicola Levitt of Melksham CID said: "At this stage all we can say is a boy in his mid teens has died after an accident in Broadleas Road."
