Radio 1 legend Sara Cox has said she can't wait to have a boogie in Swindon at next week’s Big Weekend.

Sara, who presents the weekend afternoon show, says that the two-day gig is the highlight of the summer festival calendar - and not least because the toilets are outstanding clean.

She said: “I hope the people of Swindon are ready for the Radio 1 circus to roll into town.

“The festival is so magical and has a really good heart and spirit.

“The music is just outstanding and there is something for everyone which means there is a good mix of people attending.

“It is nice because people can go who might not be ready to rock up in a tent and do the whole ‘festival-experience’ thing.

“The toilets are always ludicrously clean.

“I am coming with my hubby but leaving the kids at home so we can have a boogie to Dizzee Rascal and Lilly Allen.

“I will be presenting the show from Swindon and so I beg the people of Swindon to come and talk to me if I run up to them looking like a lunatic asking millions of questions.”

She has also said that there will be a huge array of coverage on the two days so people that haven’t got a ticket should not be too down hearted.

She said: “You must feel gutted if you dont have a ticket but there is going to be so much on TV, online and the radio.

“The best advice I can give to people who have missed out on a ticket is to get in the garden, have a barbecue and whack the radio on.

“We are all genuinely excited about the Big Weekend and have been looking forward to it for ages.

“We have known it was going to be in Swindon for a while but were sworn to secrecy which was really tough on me.

“I cant wait to come and meet all the lovely people of Swindon.

“Look out Swindon because here we come.”

The Big Weekend kicks off on May 9 with performances from Snow Patrol, Ndubz, Calvin Harris and Dizzee Rascal.
