Medic Adam Brownhill has spoken of 'the most severe motorcycle accident' he has ever been to after arriving at the scene of the crash in Lacock yesterday.

A 31-year-old man from Warminster is still fighting for his life in Frenchay hospital after his motorcycle collided with a car.

Dr Brownhill, from Chippenham, is part of the South West Intervention For Trauma (SWIFT) group who are called out to help deal with emergency situations.

He had been on his way home along the A350 when he noticed traffic was building up and saw an unmarked police car.

He said: "I assumed there had been a crash so I stuck my green lights on and drove to the scene of the accident.

"I could tell immediately that this was a very, very high speed impact.

"It became apparent very quickly that the motorcyclist had very severe injuries.

"We stabilised him and made a quick assessment of his condition.

"This was the most severe motorcycle accident I have been to."

Dr Brownhill then accompanied the man to Frenchay hospital and gave medics there a hand.

He has since been in contact with the hospital to check the status of the patient and check the results of a recent CT scan.

Dr Brownhill said he was unable to give out any more details because a police investigation has now been launched.

The incident happened just minutes away from where Lackham student Chris Hughes was killed after a car hit him as he crossed the road at Notton last year.

Police are now appealing for any witnesses who may have seen the crash, which happened just after 2pm, to come forward.
