WILTSHIRE fire fighters have been inundated with more than 150 999 calls this morning following heavy flooding across the county.

So far crews have attended more than 80 homes to assist families whose homes have been flooded.

A spokesman for the Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "The fire service across the county have been very stretched this morning following the heavy rain over night.

"The fire service expects to remain heavily committed to flood related incidents for the rest of the afternoon."

Part of the M4 motorway between junction 16 and 17 has been flooded and motorists are being warned to pay close attention to the overhead information signs.

Most of the trains to and from Chippenham railway station were cancelled this morning due to flooding on the tracks.

Traveller Frankie Durham was trying to travel to Cheltenham this morning was caught up in the delays.

He said: "Most of the trains were cancelled and those which were still running were severely delayed.

"Everyone was furious - I expect they were trying to go somewhere to do their Christmas shopping.

"The floods have really affected the lines around Chippenham."
