The founder of the Fairford Air Tattoo has been inducted into the air show hall of fame in a Las Vegas ceremony.

Paul Bowen, who died from cancer in 2004, became the first non-American to be inducted into the International Council of Air Shows' Hall of Fame at their annual convention in Las Vegas.

The award was made "in recognition of Mr Bowen's achievements as an air show industry leader and innovator, and his contributions as a mentor and role model for air show event organisers all over the world".

The RAF Fairford air show started in 1971 and has grown to become the world's largest military airshow, attracting 300 aircraft and crowds in excess of 150,000.

The award was presented to his widow Janet who travelled from Marston Meysey in Wiltshire.
