Swindon Wildcats general manager Steve Nell with the latest from The Link Centre

I think it’s fair to say that our new coach Ryan Aldridge could not have asked for more after an excellent first weekend in charge where we produced two fantastic wins.

On Saturday we got the home win we needed with a 3-2 win over Sheffield. We left it late and it was 2-2 going into the last quarter but we nicked a goal at a crucial time and I’m pleased with how it went.

I never thought we were going to lose the game but it was good for Ryan to get off to a flyer like that.

We headed to Bracknell on Sunday and emerged 3-1 winners, which will look more one-sided but it proved to be another close game. Joel Petkoff did not score our third until the final period of the game and in this sport being one or two ahead is not enough of a cushion to be confident. The most encouraging aspect of the weekend is that I am unable to single out a star performer. Both matches were real team efforts with a number of people putting in good performances. The squad is a happy one at the moment and everyone is getting along.

We have the unusual situation of a Thursday night game tonight away at Milton Keynes but that may prove to be a help rather than a hindrance.

All of our players should be able to get the time off from work so we’ll go with a full squad and it will also give us time to recover before we play hosts to them on Sunday.

Nicky Watt injured his hand this past weekend and it is very sore but we hope he’ll make himself available for both games against a good all-round side.

We hope to be playing in front of our biggest home crowd of the season on Sunday with free tickets for kids who are accompanied by an adult, so come along and show your support.

We go into both games in confident mood and of course hope to have racked up a further four points by Monday.
