I would like to offer a response to one of your readers who voiced her displeasure at being unable to handle alcohol at a Morrisons store recently.

It appears that the person in question is unaware of the severe consequences you could face if you serve alcohol to someone underage.

There is a minimum £80 fine as well as the possibility of a further £5,000 fine and a court appearance. This is why many stores operate a Think 21 policy.

While I accept poor judgement has been used in this case I do feel it is unfair to criticise someone who is simply doing their job and trying to avoid a costly fine.
