It was reassuring to read of the police action against motorists causing a nuisance and upsetting residents in Devizes.
Now, how about a police crack-down on other anti-social issues, by people who do not so much break the law as ignore it? Such as idiots who continue to ride bicycles on pedestrian footways, and morons who carelessly drop litter, or irresponsible dog-owners who allow their pets to foul the pavements.
These are not offences punishable by death, but I have yet to see anyone prosecuted, much less punished, for committing them and, along with drunken yobs urinating in doorways and vomiting in the streets, they do make life decidedly unpleasant for ordinary, decent townfolk.
Now is the time for the police to continue their initiative and make full use of the CCTV cameras to provide evidence for a few prosecutions.
