A clergyman in Chippenham is hoping his new approach to jazzing up Christmas carol concerts is going to be a hit in the town.

The Rev Ralph Burden of the Oasis Church, is holding a ‘Rock the Carols’ concert on December 20 which will combine traditional carols with modern pop songs.

He said: “This is a carol service with a difference. It will be performed locally for the third year running at Hardenhuish School.

“Many of those involved are teenagers and the guest speaker at the Chippenham event will be Richard Pidgley, who was brought up in a family who knew only crime, but he came to his senses whilst in a young offenders prison and he will be sharing his story.”

The event is free and starts at 6pm. The Oasis Church is a modern charismatic church linked to the Hillsong network.

The music style is rock praise with contemporary and relevant teaching.

After the carol concert there will be a chance to buy the latest CD collection of songs.
