Calne Town's home league match against Hallen on Saturday will go ahead, despite the death of Lilywhites chairman Brian Hillier.

Hillier died on Thursday morning at Swindon Hospital after suffering a stroke and a brain haemorrage, after being taken ill on Wednesday night.

But his son and Calne assistant manager Simon Hillier has insisted the game should still go ahead, as that is what his dad would have wanted.

Calne secretary Andy Brewer said: "I've spoken to Simon and he definitely wants the game on.

"He said his father would have wanted for it to be played.

"We could have cancelled it but Simon said life has got to go on.

"We will have the flags at half mask, there will be a minute's silence for Brian before the game and the boys will wear black arm bands to commemorate him."

Brewer added he knew former Swindon Town chairman Hillier well, and said he will be sorely missed.

"I got on very well with Brian, we used to go to all the games and Western League meetings together," he said.

"He had got the club back on its feet after it had been down in the doldrums.

"He'll be sadly missed, I'll certainly miss him."

Kick off is at 3pm.
