Family-run hardware shop Trotmans, which has been in Calne since 1927, has been sold for re-development.
Hugh Trotman, 65, and his brother Tony, 62, whose family founded the ironmongers in The Pippin, have struck a deal with developers Freshfields. It is thought the new owners plan to replace the ironmongers with 18 shops and flats.
Trotmans is the latest longstanding private business to shut in the town.
