A high street cafe has been slapped with a two-star hygiene rating following a recent inspection.
Costa Coffee on Chippenham High Street was awarded the low rating following an inspection on August 18 of this year.
The Food Standards Agency, a public health body that publishes ratings, specified that improvement was necessary.
In the categories hygienic food handling and management of food safety, the site was rated “good” and “very good”, respectively.
However, on the matter of cleanliness and condition of facilities and building, the site was rated “improvement necessary”.
This category involves the cleanliness and condition of facilities and building (including having appropriate layout, ventilation, hand washing facilities and pest control to enable good food hygiene).

Public Protection Wiltshire has been contacted for more information regarding the inspection.
Responding to a request for comment, a spokesperson for Costa Coffee said: “At Costa Coffee, hygiene and store standards are extremely important to us.
“We were disappointed by the rating awarded to our High Street store in Chippenham following the recent inspection.
“A number of the issues identified related to maintenance and repair works within the store, and we have been working to address these as a priority.
“Several improvements have already been completed, with the remaining work underway.
“We are confident that the actions taken will support an improved outcome at a future reinspection.”
