There are delays on the A419 and police have issued an urgent warning to drivers.

Officers have urged people to drive with care on the A419 around Swindon due to two incidents which are causing tailbacks during the afternoon of Friday, July 17.

Two vehicles have broken down, one on either side of the carriageway, near Cricklade and Latton.

Police are in attendance at the breakdowns, which are causing delays for motorists on the busy A-road.

Drivers should expect slow moving queues and should drive with care while in the area, while police work at the scene.

A spokesperson for the force said: “If you are driving along the A419 this afternoon please be extra vigilant.

“We are dealing with two active breakdowns on each side of the carriageway – one near marker post 18/7 at Cricklade and one 200 metres away at Latton, on the opposite side of the carriageway. Both breakdowns are in live lanes – lane one.

“This is causing tailbacks – please drive with care.”
