The cause of flooding issues on a key motorway diversion route through a Wiltshire town has been identified.
The road near Coped Hall in Royal Wootton Bassett has reportedly had a long-running issue with drainage and flooding, and on June 11, Wiltshire Council issued an update on how it was looking to resolve its persistent flooding issues.
The council said it has identified that a break in a drainage pipe has been causing the issue.
However, a spokesperson added that due to the road being a designated M4 diversion, and ongoing roadworks nearby, it is having difficulties arranging the repairs.
In a statement shared on social media, Wiltshire Council said: “We’re aware of concerns about flooding on the road near Coped Hall in Royal Wootton Bassett.

“Our highways team has investigated the issue, and it is caused by a break in a drainage pipe connection, rather than a simple blockage. This will require more substantial repair work, and we are working with our contractors to complete this.
“However, arranging the repairs is difficult as the location is part of a designated M4 diversion route, and there are other ongoing works in the area.
“This means road space is limited, but we are continuing to work to secure a suitable time to complete the repairs.
“We appreciate this is frustrating and thank you for your patience while we work to resolve the issue”
