A driver has escaped police after crashing into multiple vehicles during a dramatic chase.

Officers authorised a pursuit of a vehicle that failed to stop in the car park near KFC on Bath Road in Chippenham, shortly before 1pm on Friday, May 8.

Police had tried to stop the driver due to concerns that they were under the influence of an illegal substance.

Officers say the driver made off along Bath Road, driving dangerously, before crashing into multiple vehicles on Hungerdown Lane near Lidl.

The vehicle still did not stop and continued on towards the A350 before another crash on Cepen Way.

The driver then fled the scene on foot.

Police have confirmed that enquiries into the incident remain ongoing and any witnesses have been urged to come forward.

A spokesperson for the force said: “We are urgently appealing for CCTV or dash cam footage following a pursuit which took place in Chippenham today.

“Please could we urge anyone with information in relation to the pursuit, or the collisions, including any CCTV or dash cam footage which could assist, to get in touch.

“Call 101 and quote crime reference number 54260055005.”
