Aldi has submitted a prior approval application for the installation of solar panels at its food store at Langley Park, off Foundry Lane in Chippenham.
The supermarket was constructed years ago alongside the neighbouring Travelodge as part of the regeneration of Langley Park.
Aldi’s bid to install solar panels on the roof of the site comes in the same month that it committed to investing over £300 million in upgrading and extending existing UK stores during 2026.

Multiple outlets, including The Grocer, also reported last year that Aldi planned to roll out solar panels to a further 90 stores by the end of 2026 in a £7.7 million project.
Giles Hurley, chief executive officer of Aldi UK and Ireland, said: “As well as opening new stores, we’re also investing in existing ones to make sure everyone can get what they need from Aldi.
“By extending some stores, and by upgrading and improving others across the country, we can serve even more customers while creating even better shopping environments for our colleagues and shoppers.
“Together with our new stores, that will mean more people can access Aldi’s high-quality products at unbeatable prices.”
Wiltshire Council is expected to determine the application by April 14.
