Multiple road and lane closures are set to hit drivers using the M4 in Wiltshire over the next week.

National Highways has warned motorists to prepare for roadworks which will take place on the motorway, and to plan their journeys accordingly.

These works are scheduled to take place at night to minimise disruption.

The first closure that will impact drivers in Wiltshire will see the westbound carriageway of the M4 shut between junction 14 and junction 15 at Swindon.

This closure will be in place from 10pm on Wednesday, August 20, until 6am the following day.

During this time, National Highways will be carrying out resurfacing of the carriageway.

On Thursday, August 21, the eastbound exit slip road at junction 17 of the M4, at Chippenham, will also shut.

The road will be closed between 9pm and 6am the next day during works, during which time National Highways has warned drivers they will have to divert and leave the motorway at either junction 16 or junction 17 when heading eastbound.
