A retrospective planning application has been submitted for a new addition to a petrol station off a busy main road.

An ‘Amazon hub’ collection locker has already been installed at the Bath Road service station at the bottom of Rowden Hill in Chippenham.

Now Rontec is seeking retrospective planning permission for the addition from Wiltshire Council.

If this application were to be rejected, there is a possibility that Rontec could face a planning enforcement notice.

The ‘hub’ is located against the wall of the service station and allows Amazon customers to collect pre-ordered items from one of its many lockers.

A planning statement said: “Due to its small size, limited number of potential users, the size of the forecourt, and the availability of parking, it is considered that it will not result in any detrimental impact in respect of highway safety or access to the petrol station.

“Given the above, it is considered that the installation will have no adverse impact on the existing development.”

The current Esso garage was built over two years ago on the site of a previously demolished petrol station.

As well as the Amazon locker under consideration, it boasts a Morrisons Daily store, a Greggs, and a Costa Coffee.
