Wiltshire Council has issued a warning to residents after fire crews battled a landfill site blaze for nearly 24 hours.
Around 30 firefighters were called to Compton Bassett landfill, near Calne, at around 6pm on Sunday, June 9, after a large fire broke out at the scene.
On Monday afternoon, over 20 hours after the incident began, Wiltshire Council confirmed crews remained at the scene to smother the flames.
Residents have been warned to close their windows and doors until the issue is fully resolved.

“If you live in the Calne, Cherhill or Quemerford area, please keep your windows and doors closed until the fire is fully under control.”
Crews remained at the site at the time of writing and on Monday morning the fire service expected to be battling the fire “for the foreseeable”.
Hills Waste Solutions, who own the site, added: "A fire was detected at 6pm on Sunday, June 10, the incident is ongoing and emergency services are in attendance.
"The landfill site has been temporarily closed, but all other operations on site are open.
"We are working with the fire and rescue service, and other agencies, to bring the fire under control.”
