The M4 is set to close for several nights in Wiltshire causing disruption for motorists.

Drivers have been warned that the westbound carriageway of the motorway will be closed for two successive nights between junction 17 at Chippenham and junction 16 at Swindon.

The closures will be in place from 8pm on Tuesday, June 18, until 6am Wednesday, June 19, and then from 8pm on Wednesday, June 19, until 6am on Thursday, June 20.

During these times, National Highways will be carrying out reconstruction and repair work to the westbound carriageway.

A diversion route will be in place for all vehicles that will see drivers advised to use the A3102, A4, A420 and A350 to reach their destinations.

Small cars will be diverted via the A3102, B4042, and the A429.

Ahead of this two-night closure, the eastbound carriageway of the road will shut for one night between the two Swindon junctions, 16 and 15.

This work will take place from 9pm on Thursday, June 13, until 6am on Friday, June 14.

There will also be some lane closures throughout June, which may affect drivers.

Minor delays are expected between junctions 14 and 16 from Monday, June 10, until Wednesday, June 12.
