AROUND 200 mourners attended the funeral of a ‘happy-go-lucky’ schoolboy who died while playing on a low scooter outside his home in Dilton Marsh on April 14.

Lennix Sutcliffe died when he was struck by a vehicle pulling into a driveway in the road where he lived.

The parish church of Holy Trinity in the High Street at Dilton Marsh was packed for the funeral of the eight-year-old.

The hearse was led by bikers, some wearing Pokémon-themed outfits, and the floral tributes included one that read 'brother'.

A poem called Pokeman, compiled by the school's Willow Class, was read out as Lennix was a keen Pokeman enthusiast.

Paying tribute to Lennix after his death, his parents Jackie and Chris said: "Our Lennix was always playing, a happy-go-lucky child who was loved by everyone and who loved everyone.

"He simply loved life and was the light of our small village.

"He loved Pokémon and his favourite character was Charizard.”

Lennix, who lived in Woodland View, Dilton Marsh, was carried to the service by mourners dressed in Pokeman attire.

He was also a keen motorcycle enthusiast and was escorted to the church by a procession of 60-plus biker outriders.

Family, friends and relatives, along with other mourners, entered the church to the sound of ‘Adventure’ by Coldplay.

Reverend Caroline Husband, of the local White Horse Benefice Team, conducted the service.

She said Lennix's family and the whole community of Dilton Marsh has been devastated by his tragic death.

The service also featured three hymns and mourners left the church to ‘Diamond’ by Rhiannon.

Floral tributes were taken to the church on a lowloader vehicle, along with a Pokeman toy and a photograph of Lennix.

Donations in memory of Lennix will be given to Dilton Marsh Primary School.

The driver of the vehicle, a man in his 30s, was arrested after the incident on suspicion of causing death by careless driving. He has since been released under investigation.
