Four girls in Wiltshire were hospitalised after smoking an illegal drug.

Police received reports about the young people suffering adverse effects to the use of the substance on Friday, May 17.

Neighbourhood officers carried out enquiries to find out more about what happened.

On Tuesday, May 21, they arrested a man in his 20s from Calne on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of a class B drug.

He has since been released on bail while the investigation continues.

PC Lizzie Wright said: “Following reports of four young girls becoming unwell, we launched an investigation and swiftly arrested a man the same evening in connection with the incident.

“We’d like to take this opportunity to remind parents to speak with their children about the dangers of taking unknown substances when it is unclear what they may be laced with.”

Enquiries are ongoing.

Police have suggested that parents and guardians visit www.youngminds.org.uk for more information on the effects of using drugs and alcohol as well as guidance for what to do if help is needed.
