A man in his 20s has been seriously assaulted outside a pub in the early hours, police have said.

Wiltshire Police has now launched an appeal for witnesses following a serious assault in Chippenham during the early hours of Sunday (May 19).

Two suspects are said to have assaulted a man in his 20s outside the Black Horse in New Road, Chippenham, at around 2.40am.

The victim sustained serious head injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.

A man in his 30s has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm in connection with the assault and remains in custody for questioning.
